We're currently running Virus Scan Enterprise 8.0 on an isolated LAN that has no internet connectivity and cannot be connected. We push an image to all new PCs that includes Mc Afee. So, with these possibilities in mind, I began to call members of my strong network of fellow security professionals to ask for their help and guidance. Before long, the incident response team at my company opened up a telephone bridge so I, my experts and my experts' experts -- including security pros from Microsoft -- could all discuss what was happening and brainstorm about the potential causes.First off I would like to say that my primary responsibilitis don't include antivirus management/configuration.However, the guys in charge of it on my team don't seem to know what they're doing. It was late on a Friday afternoon, however, when I got a frantic call from our service delivery manager saying that the company "was under attack" and that I needed to be at the incident response area ASAP.The symptoms were that many of our workstations and some servers had gone to 100% CPU usage and did not respond to any commands, troubleshooting measures, etc.

caused Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) systems to crash and reboot repeatedly.
So in summary, please advise the best methods to enable automatic updates and perform the upgrade from 8.0 to 8.5 on an isolated network.
